Rescue Boat

Anonymous

Albumen CDV

England

c.1860

From cloth caps to top hats, it looks like the whole town of Blackpool has come out to innaugurate or honour the arrival of a “state of the art” rescue boat. Lined up for the camera, the crew and boat is surrounded by dignitaries and common folk alike.

This extremely well preserved carte de visite is from the studio of W. Porter, Fleetwood and Blackpool. The tones and sharpness are excellent, as is the card mount to which the photo is attached.
