Posed in front of a painted backdrop of The Maid of the Mist floating precariously near the cascading Niagara Falls, a young couple memorializes their visit to the natural wonder, which is actually located close by. The cdv-sized tintype is enclosed in a complete paper envelope with the stamp of The Tintype Gallery, No. 5. W. Falls Street, Niagara Falls, N.Y. The plate has a bend that is hidden behind the mat, there are some swirls from the emulsion pour and a couple of light finger prints in the varnish. Otherwise the photo is fine with excellent tones and clarity.
