Temple Entrance

Here is yet another enigmatic photographic object. The best way to describe this photograph is to call it an enlarged lantern slide. The 9” X 11” hand-tinted image is framed in an exotic wood – possibly Kiri wood – and seems to have been contrived to hang in a window for illumination from behind. The photograph appears to have been taken from the entrance of a temple, looking back down to a village below and a mountain scene beyond. The colours remain vibrant and fresh (we do not advise hanging this in a window) and the frame is in excellent condition.
